Hi Katelyn, To make your long eye lashes stand out without using color, I would suggest that you try a liquid eye liner or cake eye liner. Cake is a little messier and needs a little more practice but, will usually leave a matte line and liquid can be shinier. So, it depends on the look you are going for. To apply, start from the outside corner of the eye and work your way across the lid. Don't try to make one line all the way across, instead draw the first line, pick up the brush and overlap the line you just made and continue across in this manner. Next just add a ton of mascara to your top lashes. Believe it or not, choosing the right lipstick color will also have an effect on your eyes and your entire face. Try using red (true red for everyone - not too orange, not too blue). Another great lipstick color that enhances eyes is magenta. Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have small brown eyes with long eye lashes but i want to know how to make my eyes stand out with using colour
Eye Makeup (General) question from Savannah
Hi Savannah, The easiest way to make blue eyes pop and brighten the entire face (even makes teeth look whiter) is use a neutral brown eye shadow trio (ivory, medium and dark brown), mocha or chocolate eye liner, lots of black mascara and red lipstick. Go for a true red or blue red and if you are intimidated by red lipstick, try using a lip gloss to get used to it. Another great color is magenta lip stick which will also make the blue stand out in the eyes. If you go with magenta lipstick, choose eye colors that are in the burgundy or tawny (rosey brown) or bronze family. Hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I've been having trouble trying to find out what make big, blue eyes stand out. I have dirty blond hair with pale skin, and everything I try doesn't make my eyes "pop" like I want them to because of my pale skin. I've recently been going to the tanning bed, hoping that will help. Any suggestions?
Eye Makeup (General) question from Jo
Hi Jo, For your hair, try using Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme. It's an oil that you apply only to the length and ends of the hair BEFORE you shampoo. It will moisturize, protect, add incredible shine to the hair, just to mention a few benefits. You will see results on the first application. For your light blue dress, use a pastel lavender eye shadow swept across the lid only and add a navy blue eye liner. Use a magenta lip color, either lip gloss or lip stick, and a sheer pink blush. These colors will really make your green eyes pop! Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:

Eye Makeup question from Lauren
Hi Lauren, If you are allergic to the glue that bonds fake eyelashes, try using a mascara that is specifically for lengthening and thickening. There are some great ones that have fiber in the just for lengthening and thickening. Also, try this makeup help tip: apply the mascara only to the tips of the lashes, wait a couple of seconds to let them dry a bit, then sweep the mascara out from the bottom of the lashes to the tip. Repeat this until you've reached your desired thickness and length. Other solutions might be to go to a professional and have the more semi-permanent ones weaved in. Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
My eyelashes curl easily, but they are not long. I am allergic to the glue that you use to put on fake eyelashes, but i would like to try using them. Is there something I can do about that?
Eye Makeup (General) question from Rachel
Hi Rachel, Oh, how fun that will be to go to homecoming! Your dress sounds beautiful. For your blue/green eyes, long blond hair and navy blue dress, I would suggest a neutral eye makeup and add the pizzazz with your lipstick. For example, I would just use an ivory, medium and dark brown palate. Use the ivory just under the brow line and the medium brown in the crease and dark brown just at the outside corner. Blend all colors together so there's no obvious line between them. Next, use a navy blue eye liner and very carefully line the eyes as close to the lash as possible. One thing I like to do is just put dots and dashes of the liner next to the lash line, then using a smudge eye liner brush, just smooth them out. This gives a smoky classy line. By using the neutral browns and the navy liner, it makes a more dramatic night time look. Next use lots of dark brown or black mascara. For your lips, use either a blue red lipstick or a pretty magenta. The magenta will make the eyes look a little more green and the red will make them look more blue. I'm sure you will be the blond bombshell if you follow these tips. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
So homecoming is coming up soon and i'm needing some tips on how to do my eye makeup. My dress in short and navy blue with some sequins near the top. I have long blond hair and blue/green eyes. Thanks :-)
Eye Makeup (General) question from Chels
Hi Chels, For red eyes, I can only recommend you see an eye doctor or physician and follow their advice. If that wasn't your question, please write back with more specifics. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
what do i do about redness and eyes
Eye Makeup (General) question from Bela
Hi Bela, To make up your eyes really dark without looking too trashed, you will need the right tools and a good palate of eye shadow. Choose a palate with three colors (like a palate with silver, metal and charcoal for example). First, I recommend using an eye shadow primer from lash to brow. This keeps the shadow in place, helps with loose shadow, and covers any discolorations in the lid. Then, use an eye shadow brush to apply the lightest color from lash to eye brow. Next, use the middle color in the crease of the eye just under the brow bone. Always work from the outside of the eye toward the nose. Then with the darkest color, use an eye liner smudge brush to line the eyes. Then, using a large eye shadow blending brush, blend the crease area so that there is no clear line between colors. You can also use a wedge sponge to do this. Just use the smaller end of the wedge and lightly sweep the areas to blend. Follow with a thin line of charcoal or black pencil liner to define the eyes. Then lots of black, volumizing mascara. You'll need to practice this a few times before going out if your not used to using these tools. Good luck and I hope this helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
i just want to know a new way to make up my eyes really dark but i don't know how
EYE MAKE UP question from Shannon
Hi Shannon, Great question, and I think I can help with this problem! If it's your bottom eye lids that look big just use your eye liner inside the lid and under the lashes but, stay as close to your lashes as possible. Then, use a eye line smudge brush to blend the line and follow with mascara. For the top eye lid use the same color of eye liner and apply dots and dashes as close to the lash line as possible, then using the eye line smudge brush, blend the dots and dashes to form a thin line. You should do this over your eye shadow. One other thing to remember, especially when using eye pencils inside the eye line, is to sharpen your pencils often but be careful not to make them too sharp and scratch the eye, never share with anyone not even your bff, know that a risk of infection is always possible, and always remove all makeup before bedtime. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I need help applying eye make up. You see my lower eye lids are kinda big, and when i smile, I feel like I look like I'm stoned or something! How can I better accentuate my eyes, so I don't look so tired? Any tips would be greatly appreciated,
EYE MAKE UP question from Brenda
Hi Brenda, The best way to look natural with smokey eye makeup is by using neutral colors like brown, copper, taupe, etc. for eye shadows and liners (see "smoky eye application" page for directions). Then, for lips choose a neutral liner with a slightly colored gloss. Don't let the liner show through, instead apply the gloss then, mix the liner with the gloss using a lipbrush. To finish the natural look, use a light peach or pink blush. This will play up the dramatic look of smokey eyes while not looking too made up with the neutral blush and lip colors. Thanks for writing in and I hope this help achieve the look you wanted. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
a good way to make me look natural with smoky eyes
EYE MAKE UP question from Sarah
Hi Sarah, To bring out the gold in your hair and enhance the medium tone of your skin, try using a golden eye shadow with a dark brown liquid liner. This will really bring out your eyes and it's the perfect look for the upcoming holiday season. For a dramatic evening party look, use a bright red lipstick but, for everyday choose a neutral gloss with lip liner and a neutral blush. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
hey, i have golden hair, dark brown eyes and medium skin tone. i want to make my eyes the centre of attention and really bring them out. any tips? thanks in advance!
EYE MAKE UP question from Sherri
Hi Sherri, This is a frequent problem and the good news is there are lots of things to help. First, I would say to get an eye creme or serum with a gel in it and use this day and night. This with help with the puffiness. Then, get a concealer that is a color corrector for under the eyes. Green works great. Then cover that with a neutral tone concealer or foundation. For the eyelids, use a good eye shadow base, then powder all over the top and bottom with a translucent powder. Next, for the swollen areas on the eyelid surfaces, use darker eye shadows to decrease the appearance of puffiness. Be careful not to let the darker shadow flake off under the eyes or it will look sunken in again. If this does happen, use a concealer brush with a little concealer on it to take off the flakes, then blend it with a makeup sponge and re-powder. Good luck and let me know if this helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I always look like my eyes are swollen and sunk in. What can you use to dimish this look? People ask me all the time if I am sick or something cause my eyes look terrible.
EYE MAKEUP question from Jennifer
Hi Jennifer, Green eyes are so pretty and you can actually use a lot of colors. I really like to use wine or burgundy, even purple, especially around the holiday season. There are lots of great eye shadow sets that have the highlight color and a darker version for the crease and an even darker color to accent the outside corners. If you like a more natural look, choose a taupe, copper or brownish shadows then, line the eye with wine, burgundy or purple liquid or pencil eye liner. The purple in these colors really brings out the green of the eyes! Remember, practice, practice. If these colors are new for you, then they may take some getting used to and a few times before you apply them just right. Check out the "How to apply eye shadow" page of our website for "smoky eyes" and try this with any of the above colors. Also, another tip: if you are playing up the eyes, go easy on the lips with a more natural color. Have fun! Thanks for your question. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
what colors should you use for green eyes??
EYE MAKEUP question from B.Vimala
Dear B. Vimala, I think I can help. For the dark circles, to start make sure you are drinking lots of water, getting plenty of rest, and drink minimal amounts, if any, of alcohol and caffeine drinks. For products, look for eye creams with gel in them that are specifically labeled for your concern. The gel type eye creams will help keep the lines and wrinkles around your eyes to a minimum and the gel will draw the impurities to the surface, eliminating some of the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. To hide the dark circles, use a green concealer then, cover that with a concealer that matches closely with your skin color and foundation. Be sure to choose a creamy concealer that does not dry out and look too "cakey". Let me know how it goes. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have dark circles below my eyes. To clear that - what should i do?
EYE MAKEUP question from Isabel
Hi Isabel, Thanks for your question. Before beginning, use a good eye shadow base to minimize the darkness, keep the shadow on longer, and give a fresh canvas to work with. For deep set eyes, the main thing to remember is that dark colors recede and light colors will push out. So, keeping this in mind, choose pastel or lighter colors. It doesn't mean that you couldn't use neutral colors, too but, keep them light like beige, etc. Apply this lighter color from lash line to brow line. Next, choose a darker color and apply only to the outer edges of the eye and up to just above the natural crease in your eye lid. (If you are not sure where to begin and end the shadow, look in the mirror straight ahead and begin to apply the shadow above the pupil of the eye. Then, make an imaginary line from your eye brow down to the end of your outside eye lash line. You should not go outside this line with your shadow and do not go much above the crease line of the lid either.) This will minimize the appearance of deep set eyes. Also, remember to drink lots of water and get plenty of sleep, too! Take care and write back soon. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
How to apply make up on deep eyes?
EYE MAKEUP question from Kacey
Hi Kacey, Thank you for your question. We have detailed advice on "smoky eyes" on our "How to Apply Eye Shadow" page. Check it out and let me know what you think. Also, you can use any color with the smoky eyes application. Have fun for the holidays! Try some new colors like burgundy, purple or green if you have brown or green eyes. For blue and hazel eyes, use brown, black or gray and a red lipstick - ooh lala! This will make your eyes really pop and the color of your eyes will really show up. The overall secret to the smoky look is in the blending so, make sure you have good brushes and really blend the shadows and the liners, too. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
how do you apply eye shadow to have a smokey look?
Eye makeup question from Sathya
Hi Sathya, That is a common concern. Some causes of darkness around the eye area might be lack of : sleep, hydration, exercise, proper diet, enough sleep, or you could have inherited this condition. So, a great natural way to see if you can cure this issue is make sure you are taking care to attend to these things in addition to trying to keep your stress level in check. The other suggestion I would have is to use an eye gel instead of an eye cream. These tend to have ingredients that will draw out the impurities which will lessen the appearance of the dark circles. Another natural remedy might be to try cold cucumbers to draw out impurities as well. Slice them thin and relax with your eyes closed, cucumbers on top on your eye lids. Lastly, if you want to use a concealer to cover the area, use it toward the inside of the eye where the darkness appears, avoiding the outer area of the eye where wrinkles could become more obvious. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have dark circles around my eyes how to get rid of it? please suggest me some natural treatments
EYE MAKEUP question from Sue
Hi Sue, Great question! A teal dress sounds so festive and just perfect for this year and these type colors are the bomb for the holiday look! To perfect your eye makeup look, I would stick with the brown eye shadows you have been using but, add a teal eyeliner. There are some great glittery liquid eyeliners in every color you can think of. To apply liquid liner, start at the outside corner and use short dashes, overlapping them and staying as close to the lash line as possible as you go across. The outside portion should be thicker and getting thinner as you get close to the inside of the eye.Using liquid liner can take some practice but, it really makes your eyelashes look long and thick. If you are not quite ready for glittery liquid liner, try a teal pencil liner - that works well, too. With pencils, I usually choose a softer pencil that is easy to smudge. Start at the outside of the eye with dots or dashes across the eye, staying as close to the lashes as you can. Then, use an eye liner brush (looks similar to a lip brush - short stiff bristles) to blend the liner across the lid. This is a smokier look - very sexy! In either case, liquid or pencil on the top, use a pencil on the bottom, blending as suggested for the top eye liner. By the way, blue, purple (from lavender to burgundy) are all excellent colors for brown eyes. Have fun at the party! Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have brown eyes and yellow in my skin, and I normally don't wear a lot of make up. I stick to brown shades for my eye make up, but I'm going to a formal party with a blueish/teal dress. Any suggestions on what colours I can use for my eye makeup? [I've always been scared about using blueish colours on my brown eyes]
Eye Makeup question from Paige
Hi Paige, Thank you for your question. There are many reasons for dark circles under the eyes. It could be hereditary, diet, lack of sleep, stress, or medications to name a few. I would recommend that all of these things are in check first. Get plenty of sleep, diet, drink plenty of water and try to get some exercise. Then, when choosing an eye cream, look for eye gels. These tend to have ingredients that claim to draw the impurities out, lessening the appearance of the darkness. Another natural idea is to cut cucumbers in thin slices and relax for 10-15 minutes with them on your eyes. You can do this as often as you like. For concealer, use a green (yep, green) first to counteract the darkness, then cover with your regular concealer and bronzer. Be sure, when you are using concealers that you stay in the area closest to your nose and under your eye where the darkness occurs. Going to the outer part of the eye area could accentuate the fine lines around the eye area (if this is a concern for you). Hopefully, these are some new ideas for you to try. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have dark hair, pale skin and dark circles around my eyes, how do i fix this problem without having to pound on the concealer and bronzer?
EYE MAKEUP question from Bethany
Hi Bethany, I think I can help with the appearance of small eyes. Using an eye shadow color palate that has at least three colors (light to dark), apply the lightest shade with an eye shadow brush from lash to brow. Next, with the medium color and an angled eye shadow brush, apply the color across the eye just under the brow bone (also called the orbital bone). Be sure to use the larger eye shadow brush to blend well. Now here's where the illusion begins. On the inside corner of the eye blend a small amount of the darkest color. Do the same on the outside corner only go from the lash line all the way up to the outside corner of the eyebrow. To help imagine where this is, draw an imaginary line from the outside corner of your eye to the outside tip of the brow and stay inside this line going about a 1/4" toward the inside. In the middle of the eye lid there should be a lighter spot to make the appearance of the eye area larger. For liner, I would use a black liquid liner. Just before you apply pull the top of the lid from the eye brow area up. This should help you get the liner as close to the lash line as possible. Apply the liner in small dashes or lines starting from the outside and work your way across overlapping the dashes. Let the liner dry before releasing the eye lid with your finger. Last but not least, apply lots of mascara - dark brown or black are best. Let me know how it goes. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
im looking to change the way i do make up so that it suits me but im not sure what changes to make, my eyes i think are tiny so how can i make the best of them and make them at least look bigger because it always looks like i am giving people bad looks. please help
EYE MAKEUP question from Randi
Hi Randi, I love helping with eyes! For your coloring and a daytime look, I would stick to pretty natural colors like bronze, coppers and true browns. (However, I would stay away from the taupe colors that are in this family.) If you like more bright colors or for a more dramatic night time look, try using purple or burgundy, khaki green or even bright turquoise. Any intensity of these colors will work with your coloring. The purple colors will bring out any green that might be in your eyes and make them brighter. Just use a bit on the outside corners and/or use them as your eyeliner colors. Then finish off with dark brown or black mascara. For more great ideas, check out the other answers in the eyeshadow category. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have reddish orange hair medium brown eyes and a medium comlexion what kind of eyemakeup would look good on me?
EYE MAKEUP question from Steph
Hi Steph, There are some great new mascara products out there that really do work from what I have seen. They are very expensive ($100.00 to $150.00) and you need to get them at a department store, high end beauty supply or apothecary type store. They thicken, enhance and even curl the lashes. I have several friends that are using it and swear they see new growth, curling and overall are very happy with the results. As far as, your lashes falling out when you take your make up off, be sure to use a very gentle eye makeup remover and don't pull or tug the area. This is also important for the whole eye area as it is very sensitive. Good luck and let me know if this helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
i have horrible lashes and after applying make up they never match. my left eye lashes never go up even after curling them. my lashes are quite short and i have lost many while taking off my make up. what is the thing to do to make my eyes match and curl up?
EYE MAKEUP question from Deb
Hi Deb, Your problem is shared by many. Fortunately, there is help. I always recommend seeing your doctor first and it seems that you have. Now, for a natural remedy there are a couple of options: cool cucumbers on the eyes and/or a cool mask applied to the eye area. Drink lots of water. All of these things will help to draw the impurities out and lesson the appearance of the puffiness and dark circles. Then, use a eye gel as opposed to a cream as gels will also help to draw out the impurities. Lastly, apply your concealer only on the dark area, not at the outside eye area where the skin is thicker and where more lines will be. The best color for really dark circles is green as it will offset the darkness. Pat in your concealer with your ring finger (always gentle around the eye and never pull or tug). Once you have applied the concealer, use a wedge sponge and apply your foundation over the concealer by patting it on, not dragging it over the area and finish it by patting over it with a translucent powder. This should give a nice even canvas for you to add your eye, blush and lip colors. Thanks for your question and let me know if it helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have both puffy eyes and dark circles, when I apply concealer it makes the puffy parts stand out and the dark parts sometimes get worse - it is a medical condiditon but I wanted to try makeup - before surgery. (I have also tried many concealers - from $5 to $30. I think I need application or an alternative.)
Eye Makeup (General) question from Jesse
Hi Jesse, If you really want your blue eyes to be accentuated, just wear red lipstick and neutral brownish colors on your eyes. Red lipstick also makes your teeth look whiter. If you haven't worn red lipstick yet, it will take some getting used to but, trust me, you'll definitely stir up some attention! For a really dramatic look, just wear the red lipstick and black liquid eye liner with mascara on your eyes. Good luck and let me know how it goes! Teresa
MY QUESTION:
Hi. I just want my eyes and my lips and my face to stand out more. My eyes are blue and I have sort of thicker lips. I am a lighter skin tone and I am starting tanning. If you can give me tips to bring out the blue in my eyes and just making my features stand out more, that would be awesome!
Eye Makeup (General) question from Anabelle
Hi Anabelle, Your coloring sounds very pretty and makeup can help you with the appearance of dark circles under your eyes. I'm not clear if you actually have dark circles or if it just looks as though you do because of the brown eyes with light reddish hair and fair skin. In case you do have them, the best thing is green concealer with "fair" or "light"concealer over it. There are many reasons for dark circles so, you may want to also consider drinking a healthy amount of water per day, get good sleep and eat right. Another good and natural remedy is to have cool cucumbers on your eyes as you bathe or at night before sleeping. Choose an eye cream with gel in it to draw out impurities (claimed by some companies). Now, when choosing eye shadows for your eyes, stay away from browns. Other good colors for you would be pastels (pink, blue, lavender, even green). Stay with lighter colors as these tend not to make the eyes appear to be recessed or sunken. They will instead brighten up your face and draw attention to other colors in your eyes like green or hazel that are sometimes present in brown eyes. For eye liners, again choose complimentary colors to your brown eyes like purple or copper (to accent the golden red in your hair) or khaki green for a more natural look. Lots of black mascara will finish off the eyes. Good luck and I hope that helps! Teresa
MY QUESTION:
i have reddish gold hair, brown eyes and fair skin so i always look pale with dark eye circles, what can i do to make my eyes look better?
Eye Makeup (General) question from Rachel
Hi Rachel, When working with dark hair and dark brown eyes, I like to brighten things up a bit. For eye shadow colors try using some pastels like pink, yellow (unless you have yellow undertones in your skin), blue or lavender. Another great look is to use gold especially as we are heading into summer. All of these colors will bring the eye forward and not bring attention to your small eyelids or the fact that you are reworking your eyebrows (but, be sure to fill in the brows with a matching brow pencil until they have filled in). With these eye shadow colors a blue or purple eye liner will be just perfect to define your eyes. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
i have dark hair and very dark yet big bright brown eyes. if that makes sense. im recently growing out my eyebrows for new ones and i want to know what kind of make up i should wear.now and when they are fixed. my huge eys are stuck behind tiny eye lids so i dont know what to wear with out looking too made up but i want people to be like wow you look beautiful anytime i dont know what to do i need help! with my eye look!
Eye Makeup (general) question from Jazzi
Hi Jazzi, If you like to use blue eye liner, I would suggest, with your blond hair and blue eyes, that you use a steel or metal blue eye liner. This is a softer look. Yes, you should line both top and bottom of the eyes. Start with making little dots or dashes across the eye then, using and eye smudging brush (looks like a lip brush but, with smaller more stiff bristles) start at the outside portion of the eye and work your way across smudging the dots and dashes into a line. Be careful that it's not too thick. Do the same for the bottom eye line connecting them at the outside corner. This will give a soft, smoky effect. Follow with lots of black mascara and for a dramatic look, use red lipstick. Red lipstick magically brings out the blue in the eyes and even makes your teeth look whiter! Go with a blue red or a true red but, stay away from orange reds. Good luck and I hope that helps! Teresa
MY QUESTION:
Alright. Well, I know im not ugly, but i also know im not picture perfect. i wear blue eyeliner on my bottom lid, but i think i should wear it on the top. but im not sure what colors to use. I have blue eyes and brown hair w/ natural blonde highlights. what do i do?
EYE MAKEUP (GENERAL) question from Babes
Hi Babes, Try using pastel eye shadows and lighter eye pencils around the eyes. Lighter shades will brighten the whole face. If your eyes are blue or green, use lavenders, pinks, yellows or taupe. If you eyes are brown use lavenders, blue or ivory. If you have dark circles under the eye, try using green concealer first then, foundation or skin tone color concealer over it. Good luck and I hope this helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
My eyes always look tired how do I get them to look bright and pretty .
Eye Makeup (General) question from Doreen
Hi Doreen, To make your eyes look really big and dramatic, try using a really bold color like chartreuse (bright, light green), purple or a bright blue. Be sure to only use it on your eye lid and not higher up than the crease area. Also, use a highlighter just under the brow line such as an ivory, silver or white. If you choose to use the highlighter method, go with more neutral colors in the crease and on the lid. Also, add a darker color at the outside corner such as navy blue, merlot (wine or burgundy color) black or brown. Use a matching eye liner under your eyes and finish off with a very thin line of black liquid liner or pencil eye liner and lots of volumizing mascara. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
How can I make my eyes look really big and dramatic?
EYE MAKEUP (GENERAL) question from Amanda
Hi Amanda, For light brown hair and big brown eyes, you should use a neutral brownish palate with ivory, taupe and brown or a copper palate would be good, as well unless you have a orangish undertone in your skin. To accent the eyes, use colors like dark navy, purple, burgundy in the outer corners of the eyes or as an eye liner color. Remember that dark colors recede and light colors bring out the eyes making them look larger. So, use a medium dark color in the crease of the eye and on the lid. Just under the brown sweep on the lightest color of the palate to keep the look bright and fresh. For lips, try peachy or pink lip gloss. For a dramatic look, I always recommend a red lip stick. You could use a true red or an orange red (again, unless you have an orange tone to your skin, then chose a blue red lip color). Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have light brown hair and big brown eyes. How should I do my eye makeup?
EYE MAKEUP (GENERAL) question from Jasmine
Hi Jasmine, For your coloring and to really make the blue of your eyes sparkle, here a couple of things to try. First, use a neutral ivory, beige or golden brown, even copper palate for the eyes. Use a dark brown eye liner and either dark brown or black mascara. Then, choose an bright orangish red lip gloss or a red lipstick for really dramatic results. For blush, choose a peachy color. Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I need all the help I could get. I have brown hair with natural -pretty noticeble- blonde highlights. I also have medium sized, blue eyes. I've been wearing blue eyeliner, but it's not really satisfying my look. I need to know what color eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara I should use. I hope you can help!
EYE MAKEUP (GENERAL) question from Lisa
Hi Lisa, What a pretty combination you have with your olive eyes, dark hair and pale skin. To focus on your eyes, keep the cheeks and lips more subtle by using a peachy or neutral blush and lip gloss that is peachy or neutral. For smoky eyes, use ivory, charcoal and black or dark brown, tan and black combinations. For smoky eyes application, check out our "Smoky Eyes" page. For dramatic eyes that are olive, use purples to make the eyes appear more green. There are some great neon purple shadows that would be really pretty. Just swipe them across the eyelid and don't go above the crease or it looks a little you know, trashy! Then use a thin black eye liner and black mascara to finish. In this case, I would also recommend a true red lipstick or an orangish-red lip color to really look dramatic.(If your pale skin has yellow tone, go with a blue red instead of an orange red.) Good luck and I hope I've helped you. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
What colors are best for me? I have a very pale complexion, dark brown hair, large olive-colored eyes, large dark brown eyebrows, and long dark lashes. I would like the focus to be on my eyes and for my cheeks and lips to be more subtle. I would like to know what colors to do for a smoky eye and what colors to do for a dramatic eye. Also, what colors to do for subtle lips and cheeks.
EYE MAKEUP GENERAL question from Ruby
Hi Ruby, If you are wearing black mascara, you may think it looks weird or too harsh with your light coloring. With your strawberry blond hair and greenish eyes, I would recommend you use either brown or black/brown mascara. Also, using a reddish brown eye liner and smudging it so, it will look softer. Make sure you get as close to the lashes and possible. Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION: i have greenish eyes and strawberry blond hair and my eyelashes are blond so mascara just looks weird on me. what should i do?
GENERAL EYE MAKEUP question from Rachel
Hi Rachel, To enhance your eyes you could just choose pastel or neutral colors for eye shadows and apply a little mascara. If you have brown eyes, use purples, browns or light blue. For blue eyes, use browns, yellows or gold tones, pink or burgundy colors. For green eyes, choose lavender, coppers, gold, pink, purple colors. If you are using a color that is not neutral, only use it on the lid unless it's very shear and pastel then, go all the way to the brow line. For neutral colors only go up to the top of the "crease" area. Hope this helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I don't wear any makeup and wondered if you had any tips on how to enhance my eyes without making them look panda like! Thanks.
