Hi Mary, What a pretty combination! With your auburn hair, blue eyes and light complexion, you have a few choices. For your eyes, I would use ivory or champagne highlighter colors (highlighter will go from lash to brow) with bronze or copper colors for the "crease" area and a navy blue for the outer corner. The key to a good eye shadow look is blending. If you don't have good makeup brushes, try using the smaller end of a makeup wedge sponge and lightly dab at the shadows until they are blended and you can't really see where one color starts and the next begins. Navy blue or bronze eye liner would compliment this color story for the eyes. For eye liners you should smudge them with an eye liner smudge brush (looks like a lip brush but with shorter more stiff bristles). This gives a soft smokey look as opposed to the hard line a pencil can give. As always, follow with lots of black mascara. For cheeks, use a copper or bronze which is applied to the apple of the cheek and blended so there is not a circle. For lips because you have a light complexion, I would go for a true red (not to blue, not too orange) lipstick or lip gloss. Another great special occasion and/or to really make the blue eyes stand out, go with a burgundy or wine color trio eye shadow with a rosy or pinkish highlighter color. In this case, use the rosy or pink as the highlighter with the medium color in the crease and the darkest color at the outside corner. Use a tawny (rosy brown) or burgundy (but not too dark) blush and a lipstick or lip gloss in any blue red, burgundy or tawny rose shade. Don't forget your lip liner with your lipstick and they should match, not contrast one another. Lip liner will help the color to stay longer and look more finished. Basically, in determining what colors to wear on your face, check out your closet and think about the colors you like to wear and what looks good on you. That will send you in the right direction for your face colors. Thanks for writing in and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
What colors are good for a light complexion person with dk. auburn hair, blue eyes??
Colors Best For Me question from Emily
Hi Emily, At 14, if your parents approve, I would keep it simple with a single eye shadow color like bronze, peach or copper. If you really want to wear color, green or purple are best with your amber eyes and dark brown hair. I would skip eye liner and just wear black/brown mascara. For cheeks, a peachy sheer color just on the apple of the cheek (cheek bone) and a matching lip gloss. For lessening the round appearance of your face, have a haircut that is without bangs. Having bangs will make the face look shorter and long bangs will elongate the face. This will keep your look simple and classy. Hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
what colors/products are best for dark brown hair, brown eyes with amber and a round face. im 14 and i dont wana look like a clown
Colors Best For Me question from Chevi
Hi Chevi, A wine colored dress is going to be beautiful with your medium complexion, dark brown eyes and hair. I would go with shades of burgundy or wine colored eye shadow, blush and lipstick. If you wanted to use a different eyeshadow color, I would use any jewel tone color for eye shadow, like dark emerald green, deep navy blue, or even ruby red if you dare. For more fun, use a jewel tone mascara. For lipstick, I would try to match the dress as closely as possible, using a rich wine lip color or lip stain with matching lip liner. This will give a beautiful classic look. Photo tip: use matte foundation and go just a shade darker than you usually wear (or you can use your normal foundation and go a shade darker with your powder - careful at the jawline to blend well, though). Have fun at the wedding! Teresa
MY QUESTION:
hi. i need some advice. i have my sisters wedding coming up and im wearing a beautiful wine colored dress. my hair and eyes are dark brown and my complexion is a soft medium. what colors do you recommend for my face?
Colors Best For Me question from Barbara
Hi Barbara, To know your best colors, you can start by looking in your closet. What colors of clothing do you feel best in and/or look best in? Those are the right colors for you. In general, there is some advice like if you have green eyes, purple, burgundy, bronze, copper, etc. are good. If your eyes are dark, then more vibrant colors like teal, chartreuse, purple, black or gray are good. If they are blue, stick with browns, steel blue or navy (depending on the shade of blue they are). These are just some examples. Your hair and skin color will also help determine Colors Best For You. So, be aware of what you look best in and go from there. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
How do I know what colors to use?
Colors Best For Me question from Desire
Hi Desire, For blue eyes, I usually recommend starting with a neutral palate like ivory, medium and darker chocolate colors. Start by applying the ivory from lash to brown, then use the medium in the crease (you can stop here for a nice daytime look) and last, the dark brown just in the corner of the eye. Blend all colors so there is no clear liner between them. Line your eyes with mocha or chocolate liner and smooth out with an eye liner smudging brush. Apply dark brown or black mascara generously. Other colors that make blue eyes pop are copper, burgundy, bronze, or tawny (rose brown). The tip that really makes blue eyes pop is only not the shadow but, using a blue red lipstick or magenta lipstick. For your round face, you can add a contour just along the side of the face next to the hairline and in front of the ear - not too dark and also, don't cut your hair with bangs as that will make your face appear shorter and more round. I hope this helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
What color eyeshadow would best suit me? I have blue eyes, blond hair, and a round face.
Colors Best For Me question from Jessica
Hi Jessica, I usually choose eye shadow colors by knowing your natural eye color. Since I don't know yours, I'll give you a couple of ideas and you can also check our "Colors Best For Me" pages on this site. For example, if you have green/hazel eyes, some great colors are brown, chocolate, mocha, copper, bronze, purple, navy or green. If you have dark brown eyes, some options are browns, teal, blue, navy, purple, pink, charcoal, gray or black. If you have light blue/green eyes, choose a neutral palate like pastels or ivory and blend it with copper, mocha, or rosy brown just to name a few. I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
first off i use the "two color eyeshadow thingy." i need help with colors to use. i like the way purple and blue eyeshadow looks, but it doesnt match with everything AND it gets boring after while. what should i do?
Colors Best For Me question from Vanessa
Hi Vanessa, With your pale skin, blue eyes and red hair, I would suggest a neutral palate of eye shadows like a light peach, rosy copper and mocha brown. For application ideas see our eye shadow pages. For your eye liner, I would use a mocha or chocolate brown and smudge it with an eye liner brush for a soft, classy look. Other great eye liner colors are copper, steel blue, navy blue or even purple. For cheeks, use a sheer peach or tawny (brownish rose) and on the lips, use a peachy red lip gloss or a rosy brown color for a more natural look. Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
Any advice for makeup for girls with pale skin complexion, blue eyes, and red hair?
Colors Best For Me question from Nikki H.
Hi Nikki H. For your brownish skin tone and dark brown eyes, I would love to see a brownish red or deep burgundy color for your lips for a look that's sure to attract. For a less dramatic look, try a mocha, copper, or burgundy lip gloss. You could also use a beige lip gloss with a natural color of lip liner but, be sure to blend in the line so, there is no clear line between gloss and liner (use a lip brush or the lip gloss wand to blend). This would be a great daytime look. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have medium brown skin (the color of a snicker bar) and dark brown eyes. What lipstick color should I wear?
Colors Best For Me question from Lorraine
Hi Lorraine, Thanks for writing in! For a classy look at any age, I usually start with a neutral palate of eye shadows - a trio is perfect with an ivory, light copper and chocolate brown would be beautiful with your olive skin tone. The main tip I have for eye shadow is make sure to blend the colors, either with a blending brush or the narrow side of a wedge sponge. See our eye shadow pages for some other application ideas. With your hazel eyes, you could use a splash of color with the eye liner like burgundy or navy which will bring out the green in your eyes. Or you could stick with a bronze, copper, or chocolate liner to bring out the blue in the eyes. A steel blue is beautiful with your eye color, as well. For lips, if you want to accentuate them, choose a blue red lipstick or gloss with matching lip liner or a magenta to really bring out the color in your eyes and brighten up the face. For less drama on the lips, choose a more calming tawny (rose/brown) lipstick or gloss with matching liner. Other great lip colors for your olive skin, hazel eyes combination are burgundy, bluish pink or true red or even a soft beige. For blush, use a pinkish sheer tone or tawny (rosy brown) color. Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have olive skin, am over 50 with medium hazel eyes, what colors should I look for in basic makeups such as foundation, eye shadows and lipsticks?
Colors Best For Me question from Victoria
Hi Victoria, With your brown hair and eyes and light to medium skin tone, I'm thinking that the blue is good but the black may be a little harsh unless you are going for a more dramatic evening look. For eye shadow, I would suggest a palate with three colors containing a light (ivory or peach), medium (copper or brownish), and darker (chocolate) colors. First apply the light color from lash to brow. Use the medium color in the crease area. Blend these two together so there is no clear line from one color to the other. For daytime, you can stop here. Next, add the darker color to the outside corner area only. If your eyes are one the small side, use an eye liner smudge brush and apply a very thin layer as close to the lashes as possible of the medium or dark color. For eye liner, you can have fun with lots of colors like purple (brings out any green or bronze in the eye), green, teal, blue or just dark brown for a more natural look. To apply the liner, you can simply draw dots/dashes as close to the lashes as possible then, smudge them with an eye liner smudge brush (looks like a lip brush with stiffer bristles.) Follow with lots of mascara and voila!, you have beautiful eyes. The key is blending and smudging so there is no clear line between colors. For lips, red is always beautiful and more dramatic than any color. If you are not used to it, give yourself some time but, you will find it has the most face-changing effect. For your coloring either orange red or true red (not blue red) is best. For blush, use a bronze or copper. Hope this helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have dark brown hair , brown eyes, and light medium to medium skin tone. I'm not skilled at all with make up or hair dos when it comes to that I'm clueless. I've been doing is black and blue eyeliner switching up when I get way too bored of one. Recently I've just been doing black on the top lids instead of on top and bottom. I want to do some different looks with eye shadow but I don't know which colors will look good, I need help!! Any tips on anything and everything will be great!!
Colors Best For Me question from Candy
Hi Candy, For your foundation, it depends on the coverage, look and feel that you want. Also, what your skin type is. Generally speaking, mineral makeup powder gives light to heavy coverage and works best on combination/oily, oily, sensitive or problematic (rosecea or acne) skin types. Liquid foundations are, I find, best for normal/combination skin and a medium coverage. For a heavier coverage, use a cream makeup, especially with drier skin types. Dual finish, a makeup/powder combo is great on normal/combination skin and gives a medium, matte coverage. If your have perfect skin, a tinted moisturizer could be all you need. For choosing a color, try three different ones on the side of your cheek and see which matches best. When you apply, make sure to blend well at the jaw line so, there is no apparent line. Follow with powder for a finished look, unless you are already using mineral makeup powder. For your makeup help question about colors best for your beautiful brown hair, eyes and medium skin tone, I can recommend a few different ideas. First, for a really natural look, choose an eye shadow palate that has 3 colors in the chocolate brown tone. (Shimmering colors reflect light and give a glow, while matte colors give a more natural look and are good when using photography.) See our eye shadow pages for some great application ideas. For your eye liner, use brown, black or navy blue and follow with lots of black mascara. For your blush, a sheer peach would be beautiful especially, with a true red or orange red lipstick. Another fun look that will add a little drama is to use a bright teal, purple or green eye shadow just on the lid of your eyes and line the eyes with dark brown, black or the same color as the shadow your chose, just to define the eyes. You can also use an eye shadow smudging or eye liner brush to line the bottom lashes, too. For your lipstick and blush, go with something a little less dramatic to avoid the clown look. For example, a beige lipstick or gloss and maybe a copper or bronze blush - sheer, though. Have fun and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
Hey, I have dark brown hair..that looks almost black, of course until I meet with sunlight or any light. I also have dark brown eyes, and have a medium colored skin. I don't know what foundation best suits me or what colors would go good with my face.
Colors Best For Me question from Emily
Hi Emily, Let me see if I can offer some makeup help for you! For your pale skin that blushes a lot, you may want to use a lighter shade of foundation and a yellowish powder to counteract the redness. For blush over the powder, use a more natural shade like a golden, copper or bronze sheer color. For your changing blue/green eyes, I would use a neutral palate with ivory, light brown and medium brown. See our eye shadow pages for some great application ideas. For eye liner, use a brown color to make the eyes look more blue or a purple to bring out the green. Other great liner colors are navy, copper, or bronze. For lips, a tawny (rosy brown) gloss would be perfect. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have blond hair, I'm pale, I blush a lot, my eyes are always different colors like Green, Blue, Grey. and I have no clue as how to put make up on or what the right colors and shades are for me help!?
Colors Best For Me question from Katrina
Hi Katrina, For your gold undertones, brown eyes and dark hair, I have a couple of ideas on eye color. I would start with an ivory just under the eye brow to add brightness to the eye area. Next, under that and into the crease area, a pretty bronze or copper color. Over the lid, I would just sweep a dark brown. Once you have all these colors on, just take a blending brush or a wedge makeup sponge works great, too, and blend so that there's no clear line between colors. This will give a soft, classy look. Next, use a dark brown eye liner and starting from the outside of the eye area, line the eye as close to the lashes as possible. I usually make little dots and dashes then use a smudging brush to smooth it out to make a soft smoky line across the lid. If your eyes are big, you may want to line the inside on the bottom and use your smudge brush to line just under with the bronze eye shadow. If your eyes are smaller or are very almond shaped, you will want to line the outside (follow same dot/dash directions) of the lashes. Follow with lots of black mascara. If you want a splash of color that looks great with brown eyes, change the eye pencil to teak or purple. Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
Hi, I understand that most makeup help are for Caucasians. However, I am a filipina with golden undertones, dark hair, and pure brown eyes. I am having trouble deciding what color eye shadow I should use as an everyday look? My eyes aren't incredibly dark but aren't incredibly light. The brown is very visible, so that you can see and differentiate the black lining from the iris. Also, I do have a crease, not necessarily as pronounced as Caucasian lids. Thank you so much!
Colors Best For Me question from Katherine
Hi Katherine, With your golden blond hair, pale skin and changing bluish eyes, I would recommend a natural eye look and more dramatic lips for a stunning look. To make the eyes look really blue, simply use a reddish brown shadow (or copper, bronze, even gold) palate and a true red lipstick with a peachy blush. If you want more focus on your eyes, then choose a less dramatic lipstick color (like a tawny rose or even beige) and play up the eyes with more dramatic colors like burgundy, purple (will bring out hazel and green), or navy blue. Another great lip color is magenta especially with your bluish eyes. Good luck and I hope that gives you some inspirational colors to play with. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I'm mostly blond with natural tones of red and brown. I have Navy blue/blue gray/green eyes. I also have pale skin. What colors of eye shadows, blush, and lip gloss/lipstick colors should I use?
Colors Best For Me question from Soph
Hi Soph, For blond hair, hazel eyes and fair skin, brown eye shadow is perfect. If your blond hair is more ash or "dirty" blond, use more of a taupe color and a blue red lipstick to really make the eye more blue than hazel. If you have any gold or yellowish, copper or red highlights, use the copper, bronze or reddish brown colors. This will really make your hazel eyes turn more blue especially if you use a true red lipstick. Other good eye colors for you would be purple, navy, burgundy, or steel blue. When using these colors apply small amount at the outside corner of the eye and/or as an eye liner with your "base" brownish or taupe colors as usually worn. This will give a more dramatic, special occasion look that is not too much like a clown. The other way you could wear these colors is only using one of them just sweeping it across the eye lid much like a really thick eye liner out of shadow then, using a matching eye pencil to line the eye - top and bottom, soften that line with an eye liner smudge brush. Purple, navy and and burgundy will make the hazel eye appear more greenish while, the steel blue will be a less dramatic effect. Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have blond hair (dyed) fair skin tone and hazel eyes. I always used to use brown eyeshadow, but not sure whether it looks to harsh now with my hair colour? Thank you :-)
Colors Best For Me question from Alana
Hi Alana, For your brownish eyes, olive skin and dark brown hair, I would suggest a peachy blush and lipstick to brighten up the olive skin tone. (Be careful not to pick something too orange but rather, a reddish-peachy color.) For your eyes, you have several choices. I like to suggest a neutral palate like ivory, chocolate, mocha, copper, or khaki green, etc. for your every day look with a brown, mocha, chocolate, or bronze eye liner. To add drama or a kick of color, use purple eye liner and just a bit of purple in the outer corner of the eye lid (this will bring out the green flecks in your eye, especially with copper shadows and reddish lipstick). Good luck and I hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
hi. um i have very light skin but its got a sort of olivy tent to it. and my eyes are usually green but sometimes they turn light brown. my hair is dark chocolaty brown. can you tell me what eye liner, eye shadow, and lip gloss colors i should be using? thanks
Colors Best For Me question from Jenna
Hi Jenna, With your hazel eyes, brown hair and medium skin tone, I will suggest a couple of colors of lipsticks for different effects. My favorite would be a true red which will brighten your skin tone and hair color and make your eyes appear more on the blue side. Another great color would be magenta which will actually make your eyes appear more to the green side especially if you used a purple eye pencil and brown eye shadows. That's what is so great about having hazel eyes, they can be changed by what you are wearing on your face and your wardrobe, too. For everyday, peachy colors are great and would be perfect in a lip gloss formulation. Good luck and have fun - get all these colors and you'll be prepared for every occasion. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have hazel brown eyes and brown hair with med. skin tones what color lipsticks should I use?
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Lindsey
Hi Lindsey, For blond hair and blue eyes when you are wearing neutral colors like taupe and black, you could wear a taupe eye shadow with a charcoal eye liner and a true red lipstick to brighten up the look. If you want to focus on the eyes, not the lips, try a burgundy eye shadow with a wine colored eye liner and use a tawny (brownish rose) lip gloss or lipstick. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have a taupe top and black shirt that I am wearing to a wedding. I want to know what color eye shadow and lipstick would go well with it. I am blond and have blue eyes.
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Katie
Hi Katie, With medium brown hair, dark brown eyes, and fair and youthful skin, I would recommend some pretty neutral and light eye colors and a punch of color for the lips. For example, eye shadows in ivory, camel, suede, mocha, copper, bronze, etc. will look very pretty and for eye liner, go with a brown. Use a peachy blush and orange-red lipstick or lip gloss. If you want to play up your eyes, use some bright purple, aqua, navy, bright green, or gold but, only on the lid and with no eye liner on top. Or use the neutral eye shadow and only use a colorful eye liner. There are lots of options and combinations but, these are the colors that look best with your natural features. Thanks for writing in. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
Well I am new to this whole makeup thing event though I am 16.I have a medium tone of brown hair and dark brown eyes. My skin tone is fairly light but not completely fair. Could you possibly point me in the direction of what colours i should be using?
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Laura
Hi Laura, With blue eyes and dark brown hair you have some options to choose from. I love to see neutral eye shadow colors like ivory, mocha, brown, chocolate, etc. For eye liner try brown, navy, charcoal or gun metal blue. I prefer black mascara and lots of it! With the holidays coming, you might try a blue red lipstick. This will make the eyes look really blue and brighten up the face. Another great look for your coloring is pastels (pinks, purples, green, blue, etc.) on the eyes and a blue pink lipstick like magenta. Have fun and let me know how it goes. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
hi I was wondering what colour of eyeshadow would suit my blue eyes cause i have got dark brown hair?
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Hannah
Hi Hannah, This makeup problem can be addressed by just making some adjustments of color and application. For light skin, dirty blond hair and blue eyes, I would use a neutral brown palate with 3 colors. Start with the ivory color, going from lash all the way up to the brow bone. Then, use the medium color in the crease area but, starting at outside of the eye and working your way across but going smaller as you get closer to your nose. Lastly, use the darkest color to accent the outside corner of the eye. Then, use a wedge makeup sponge to blend all so there are no obvious lines. To define the eye, use a dark brown pencil eye liner, making dots and dashes across the lash line . Next smudge them together with an eye smudging brush (looks like a lip liner but shorter, more firm bristles) forming a nice smoky line across the lid as close to the lash line as possible. Do the same for the bottom lashes staying just under the lash line to make your eyes look bigger. (In other words, don't line the inside of the eyes as this will make them appear smaller.) Next pile on the volumizing mascara. To really make the eyes look blue (as a bonus, your teeth will appear whiter) use red lipstick. Stay with a blue red. Another great color for lips and your coloring would be magenta. With these colors, you will be the opposite of "dull and sleepy". Good luck and let me know how it goes. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have light skin and dirty blond hair. My eyes are blue with dark eyelashes, but I just cannot seem to make them stand out. In pictures I look dull and sleepy. It could be because they are small, but I am not sure.
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Judy
Hi Judy, Thanks for writing in! For blond hair and blue eyes, I like to see a neutral palate on the eyes. For example, ivory, chocolate, mocha, suede, browns, etc. If your hair has any red or gold in it, copper, burgundy or bronze are great colors, too. If you're more of an ash blond then, taupe or gray are great go to colors. For eyes, always start with an eye shadow base or primer to keep the colors more true, for less flaking, and to conceal any discolorations of the eye lid. For eye liner, use a matching black (with grays and taupe), brown (with browns, chocolate, mocha, etc), burgundy (with burgundy or wine colors), and red-brown (with copper or bronze). For cheeks, again I like a more neutral like rosy brown (tawny) color for the ash blonds or a copper/bronze if there are any golden or red highlights. For lips, I love red or magenta especially if your eye shadows are more neutral. Red makes your teeth look whiter, your eyes more blue and your skin glow! If you are not used to it, you may have to try it a few times before you actually wear it out. Go with a blue red and stay away from orange reds if you have ash blond and for golden, red blond go with a true red. I'm not a fan of orange red on any blond except strawberry blond. Magenta looks good on everyone so, you can't go wrong here. If you want more muted lips and more dramatic eyes, go with the more colorful eye shadows listed above and use more neutral tawny (brownish-rose) or burnt sienna on the lips. For your oil during the day concerns, you might try exfoliating a couple of times a week and a clay mask once a week in addition to your regular skin care routine. For the shine, you can also try oil blotting papers. They are great and really refreshing and don't require any extra powder or foundation. If you choose to reapply, do add foundation first then, press your powder in with the pad as opposed to dragging it across the face as this will remove the foundation. Simply dust any remaining powder off with a powder brush. Please let me know if this helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have blond hair and blue eyes and 45 yrs. old. I am tired of buying color after color, What color should I be wearing on my eyes, cheeks and lips? I've tried every color combo blue/brown for eyes, pink/peach for cheeks and pink/coral for lips. Nothing is working. Any suggestions! Also I use a moistuizer day and night. I do not have oily skin, but find myself adding power during the day for shine. Do I add foundation then powder or powder then foundation. Do I really need a blush too? Thanks!
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from MIchelle
Hi Michelle, Autumn colors are really pretty and can be very classy looking with a little help. One of my favorite colors with your hair and skin coloring is copper eye shadow. Try using an ivory shadow from lash to brow. Next, use copper in the crease and in the outside corner on the lid use olive, rust or brown. Blend all together so there is no clear line. For eyeliner, choose a copper or reddish brown. For your cheeks, use a more neutral color like a sheer bronze or copperish brown. For lips, use peachy lip gloss. These colors will give an up to date look that is always classy. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I've done my own color analysis and have determined my dominate color characteristic is "soft." I believe I would be classified as a "soft autumn" in the 12-season system of analysis. Muted shades of mustard yellow, olive, rust and brown look very good against my skin. However, my skin is fair with peachy-pink tones, and most traditional "autumn"eye, cheek and lip colors look contrived on me rather than natural. My true hair color is light-to-medium brown with natural gold and red highlights. Are there any eye, cheek and lip colors or specific lines of product you can suggest for my dilemma? Thank you.
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Jennifer
Hi Jennifer, Sounds like a very pretty combination! For blue eyes, you should know that red lipstick will bring them out and that it really looks good on brunettes. Go with a rich, deep bluish red. (This also makes the appearance of your teeth whiter.) But hey, you asked about blush and eye shadow. If you are going to use the red lipstick go easy on eyes with more neutral brownish colors. Grey and steel blue eye shadows also look good with blue eyes, brown hair and red lipstick. Other good colors for your eyes would be purple or blue. If you are nervous about using these colors for your shadows, try using them for your liquid eye liner or eye pencil, keeping the shadows more neutral with taupe, brownish colors. For your blush, use a neutral tawny pink or neutral color just on the apple of the cheeks. Let me know if that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I just got my hair dyed a dark brown and I have blue eyes. I am needing to know what color of blush and eye makeup looks best with this.
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from S.
Dear S, For eye shadow color that doesn't turn brown, look for a more taupe (brown with a little grey in it). For your coloring, that would be very pretty and maybe a steel grey or gun metal blue eye liner to compliment your eye color. For combination skin, I like to recommend the mineral make up powder foundations. They leave a beautiful matte finish and you can control the coverage: light, medium or heavy if needed. Simply add layers until the desired coverage is reached. They are a bit tricky to work with and it is necessary to use the primer and brush that are sold separately, in most cases, but once you get the hang of it, the results are really pretty and natural. The colors are easily mixed to get the perfect color for you and most have a natural sunscreen. Hope this helps! Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I am brunette w/big med blue eyes. Need help with what shadow color to wear to make eyes not stand out so much. Can't find a brown that isn't redish when on and not sure what other shade is good. Also, I am betw light and med skin tone, can you recommend a good natural looking foundation for combo skin. Tks.
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Stacy
Hi Stacy, For your coloring I would suggest a light peachy shade for the spring time and in summer, I would use a more natural light brownish, pink color. There are so many choices for types of blush, too. If you have really good skin, I like to use a cream blush. Apply it over your foundation and under your powder, blending it really well just on the apple of your cheek. If you tend to have oily or combination skin, I would try a powder blush or a mineral powder blush. In this case, apply it on the apple of the cheek, over your foundation AND powder. I always have wedge sponge on hand for blending after all my makeup is applied. Hope this helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
what color blush should i wear. my hair and eyecolor is dark brown and i have fair skin. please help!
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Nikki
That is a great question but, I need more information. What is your hair, eye color and skin tone? The more specific the information you provide, the better. Thanks so much for writing in. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
what is the best colors for me??
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Heather
Hi Heather, I know what you mean about the brown shadows. They are always great for a more natural classy look. You may want to try wearing them with red lipstick. That would really brighten up your face. Red lipstick makes the appearance of your eyes more blue and your teeth appear whiter, too. I would choose a blue red and stay away from orangish red colors. If you really want to try some other colors, try a metal or slate blue. I've also seen some beautiful palates coming out for spring with pastel pinks, blues and even green. These are all good colors for you and will really bring out the eyes. In this case, you should go with a more subdued lipstick or gloss. Hope that helps. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I have light brown hair, dark blue eyes and fair skin. I've been wearing different shades of brown eye shadow for years and I'm so bored with it! What are some other colors I could wear?
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Jamie
Hi Jamie, I usually go with the closest match to the skin tone for foundation. If your coloring is such that it is difficult to match, you can combine colors until you've acheived a pretty good match. If your skin tends to be more pink or yellow, I would still try to match the foundation as closely as possible then, use a color correcting powder or a bronzer to offset any discolorations or warm up the skin tone. Yellow will offset pinkish tones, green for redness and pink for yellow tones. To warm up or give a nice glow especially in the summer, use a little bronzer. The only time I would suggest a little darker foundation is for photos or videos. That would only be a shade darker and blend really well at the jawline. Hope that helps! Teresa
MY QUESTION:
Hello there,I was wondering about colors for my face, I have green eyes, dark golden brown hair, and a medium skin tone. Like is dark colors better than light natural tones? Thanx
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Kirsty
Hi Kirsty, Emerald green - what a beautiful color for a dress! With your coloring and the bright jewel-tone dress, I would keep the makeup very simple. Use a matte red lipstick, a little black eyeliner and French manicure (pink nails/white tips) on your nails. This is an elegant and smashing look. Have fun at the ball! Teresa
MY QUESTION:

COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Catie
Hi Catie, I'm blond, blue eyed and so I consider myself extra experienced with this color palate! My favorite classy, looks good anytime look, is simply neutral eye colors (brown, taupe, ivory, beige, etc.) with black or especially dark brown eye pencil and lots of black or dark brown mascara. Finish it off with a deep red, true red or blue red lipstick, gloss or lip stain. These colors maximize the blue in your eyes and always look appropriate. (The other benefit of using this color palate is that the red lipstick makes your teeth look whiter! Also, almost all photographs, including black and white will look excellent.) Other eye shadows that are good are slate blue, navy, burgundy, copper, pink and even purple. These are also good for eye liner colors (except pink). Other great lipstick colors are magenta, rosy-brown, neutral colors (although when using a neutral lip color, play up the eyes by adding a color shadow at the outside corner like purple or navy. Hope that helps you out, Catie. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
I hear so many different things for blond, fair skinned, blue eyed girls. But nothing is really consistent. What colors would be the best for me?
COLORS BEST FOR ME
Question from Shelbey
Hi Shelbey, O.k., for your "dirty blond hair and brown eyes", I would recommend that you use neutral eye colors like ivory, browns, charcoal for an every day look. Wear these colors with a red or peachy color blush and lipstick. If you want to emphasize your eyes then, use some brightly colored eye liners like purple, green, silver, steel blue, navy blue. Any of these colors will go great with your eyes. For a really dramatic look, use a bright teal or chartreuse green just on the eye lid. Don't go above the crease of the eye or it will be too "clownish". With these colors, wear a more neutral lip color. Hope this helps you out! Teresa
MY QUESTION:
i cant find the right colors and how to do my make up. i have dirty blond hair and brown eyes. what would you suggest?
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Kendyl
Hi Kendyl, With dark brown hair and blue eyes, you can wear lots of deep colors. Best of all red lipstick with a bluish tint looks stunning with this color combo. If you're shy of red, try peachy colors for lips and cheeks. For eyes, stick with neutral browns like coffee, taupe, ivory, and chocolate and use liners that are neutral like brown, coffee, etc. or gun metal blue, steel blue or navy blue are also great with the neutral shadows. Thanks for writing in. Teresa
MY QUESTION:

MY QUESTION:
I have dark brown hair and eyes. Which colours are best for me?
COLORS BEST FOR ME question from Jade
Hi Jade, For green-brown eyes, you have some great options. You could use a neutral palate that has browns, coppers, ivory or chocolate. To bring out the green, use lavender or purple. Other great colors are khaki green or olive green. I like to use a neutral palate, then accent with eye liners that are the colorful ones. For lips, use magenta or an orange red, true red or peachy colors. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
hey i was just wondering what color eye shadow would go best with greeny-brown eyes? thanks :)
LIPSTICK question from Clair
Hi Clair, Pink is a beautiful lipstick color, especially for spring and summer. Anyone can wear pink, whatever their age is. When you say "dark pink" I think of a beautiful magenta (more of a bluish pink) which is appropriate for any skin type and skin color. To make your lipstick look perfect, start with a good soft lip liner. If your lips are full and you want them to look smaller, line them inside the natural line. For thin lips to look fuller, do the opposite - line the outside of the natural lip line. Fill in with your favorite lipstick and top with a nice clear gloss or skip the lipstick and blend the liner with a pink lip gloss. Be sure to blend well so there's no lip line for a nice classic look. Thanks for your comment. Teresa
MY QUESTION:
i am in need of a lipstick that is dark pink
