HOW TO APPLY EYE SHADOW
For a smoky look

STEP 1
Use a good eyeshadow base to cover any flaws in the eyelids, and also so the shadows will adhere to the lid (and won't crease your artwork later).  Blend it well like a concealer.

STEP 2

Choose a color palate that has at least 3 colors. They can be any color. There are some great combos of purple, green, black w/ Gray, browns, burgundy, etc. It should have a light color, medium color and a dark color. Black, gray is the color of this fall season if you dare.

STEP 3

Draw an imaginary line from the outside corner of the eye to the outside end of your eyebrow. You will stay inside this imaginary line.

STEP 4

Now apply the lightest color from the lash to the brow, staying inside the imaginary line.

STEP 5

Find the brow bone, just under the eye brow.  Feel the shape of it all the way across your eye, starting from the outside imaginary line working your way across the eyelid. Now, using the medium color, apply with a medium size eyeshadow brush just under this brow bone.  Start kind of wide then as you go across make it smaller until you get to the inside portion of the eye. If you don't have a crease in your eyelid, use the same instructions to make one.

STEP 6

Using the darkest color on the palette and an angle shaped brush, apply from the outside corner, overlapping the medium color and also just on the outside corner of the lid, going about 1/3 of the way across the lid.

STEP 7

Now, using a blending brush (1/2 wide, short stiff natural hair bristles), blend the dark color with the medium color and the medium color with the lighter color below the crease of the eye.

STEP 8

Next line the top lash line, using a black or dark brown pencil starting with the outside corner and working your way across.  Use dots or dashes then, blend with a small stiff eye liner brush (similar to a lip brush but, stiff bristles).  This will give a smoky effect to the liner.  For the bottom, if you have big eyes, using the same pencil or a shadow pencil (same color used on top lid), line the lower lash line as close to the lash line as possible and stopping about halfway across.  Make sure to taper the line so, it is thin where you end it in the middle of the eye. You can also line the inside for a really smoky, sexy look.  But, if your eyes are small, this will make them look smaller. For smaller eyes, line the bottom all the way across just under the lash line and blend with the small stiff eyeliner brush.

STEP 9

Last, apply lots of mascara, black or dark brown.
The last thing I would add is that the key to a smoky look is blending, blending and more blending so, that you can't tell where one color starts and the other ends where they meet.
Good Luck and it may take a few times but, you'll get it if you keep trying!  Also, check back soon, we hope to have photos up soon.
